Model With SprueModel Making

•Models are made from any material that can be formed or carved. Wax, plastic and soft metals are popular model materials.

•The model is larger than the desired finished part to allow for shrinking of the mold and metal during the production process.

•The model is finished perfectly as wanted for the finished product. Every finished part will carry every flaw that the model has.

•A sprue rod of about 1/8 inch diameter is attached to the model for wax injection and casting purposes. The sprue rod is normally attached by solder to a metal model.

•Models are usually supplied by the customer but we are often contracted to do the model work, in which case we work closely with the customer to assure that the desired result is achieved.
