Mold Making
•We create a rubber or RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanizing) mold by vulcanizing
the material around the model.
•Rubber molds are vulcanized at 310 degrees Fahrenheit. Wax and plastic
models will not take this heat so RTV is used.
•After the material hardens, the mold is cut open and the model is
removed. This creates a cavity in the mold that is in the shape of the
model.
•This mold is then used for wax injection.
•Molds may last up to 20 years and can be used to make thousands of
parts.
